Cars have all sorts of wonderful interior design and features – but not always with thoughts of how our bodies actually move. Car gadgets can help remove friction – so that getting in, getting settled, and getting going feels less challenging.
Swivel Seat Cushion. Is twisting to get in or out of a car uncomfortable? A swivel seat cushion that sits on top of the car’s seat reduces strain, allowing for an easier rotation on the way in or out.
Search for the Stander Auto Swivel Seat Cushion – $30.99 at wellwise.ca.
Or try a Handy Bar. To make it easier to get out of the car, a handy bar hooks securely into the striker plate – the U-shaped metal loop on the car’s door frame. It creates a stable handle right where you need it, so you have something sturdy to grip as you push yourself up.

Seat Belt Grabber. Twisting uncomfortably to reach the seat belt that’s just out of reach… solved. A “grabber” extends the reach of the seatbelt toward you – grab it, pull it across in a more natural movement, and snap it in.

Buckle Booster. Some seatbelt buckles sit too low between the seats and are difficult to grab and click. Consider a buckle booster. There’s a foam block style – which raises the buckle and holds it upright, making it easier to find and fasten. There are also extenders – kind of like extension cords but for your seat belt buckles. Great for kids’ car seats too!
